Subs

Image of a young boy tries climbingThere is a weekly subs charge £2 for Beavers, Cubs and Scouts. On occasions we may ask for you to subsidise a small amount to cover additional costs.
This money is used to pay:

  • annual fees to District, Area and National headquarters for insurance, Leader training etc.
  • towards the Group to cover the cost of running our headquarters
  • the cost of badges and books etc.
  • for some extra activities to benefit your child

Due to waiting lists, if your child misses a week then a fee of £2 is required to keep your child’s place open in the Section. This fee is usually paid the next time that your child comes back to the Section.

Code of Acceptable Behaviour

The members of the scout group follow a code of behaviour during weekly meetings and on camps and outings.

School Holidays

We do not normally meet during the school holidays. There are also rare times when we have the need to cancel our usual weekly meetings – should this happen, members are always informed in advance.

Leaving

If a member does not attend for 4 consecutive meetings; without notifying the Section Leader, this will result in the assumption that they have left the Group. If you do leave the Group, it is courtesy to inform the relevant person(s) – usually your Section Leader.

 What do they do?

Beaver Logo

Beaver Scouts play games, do various activities and go on visits. They meet together once a week during school term time in a Beaver Scout Colony. Beaver Scout activities are a combination of learning and having fun. They learn about themselves, they get to know people from their local community, find out about life in other countries and explore through organised activities.

Cub Logo

There are many fun things that Cubs can do. Cubs will get a chance to try lots of different activities like camping, exploring, swimming, computing and collecting. A badge that can be worn on the uniform may be awarded if the activity has been done properly.

Scout Logo

Scouts take part in a wide range of activities. Scouts spend a lot of time outdoors – camping and experiencing a wide range of adventurous activities; anything from hill walking to cooking.

Promise and Law

Depending upon which Section your child is joining, one of the fundamental elements of that Section are the appropriate Promise and/or the Law, which has to be learnt.
